Já se sabe, concelho a concelho, quantos estrangeiros vivem no Alentejo, e Beja surge em lugar de destaque nesta radiografia. Segundo o Relatório de Migrações e Asilo 2025, da Agência para a Integração, Migrações e Asilo, o concelho de Beja tinha, no final do ano passado, 6.919 cidadãos estrangeiros residentes, sendo o segundo concelho alentejano com maior número, logo atrás de Odemira.
No total, a região alentejana contabilizava 65.238 estrangeiros residentes, distribuídos pelos 47 concelhos do Alto Alentejo, Alentejo Central, Baixo Alentejo e Alentejo Litoral. Odemira lidera destacado esta lista, concentrando sozinho mais de 22 mil residentes estrangeiros, cerca de um terço de todo o total regional. Segue-se Beja e, depois, Évora, com 6.068 residentes.
Outros concelhos surgem também com números relevantes: Sines, com 3.292 estrangeiros, Santiago do Cacém, com 3.210, Ferreira do Alentejo, com 2.258, Grândola, com 2.253, e Portalegre, com 2.063.
Ao nível distrital, o distrito de Beja lidera com 36.645 cidadãos estrangeiros residentes, seguido por Évora, com 12.325, e por Portalegre, com 6.423.
Os dados revelam ainda uma clara predominância masculina na região: dos 65.238 estrangeiros residentes, 43.781 são homens e apenas 21.457 são mulheres. Em Beja, essa diferença também se verifica, com 5.383 homens contra 1.536 mulheres. Já em concelhos como Ferreira do Alentejo ou Serpa, essa disparidade é ainda mais acentuada.
No extremo oposto da tabela estão os concelhos com menor presença estrangeira: Barrancos regista apenas 28 residentes estrangeiros, Gavião 42, Monforte 85 e Arronches 107.
A nível nacional, Portugal tinha, no final de 2025, mais de 1,5 milhões de cidadãos estrangeiros residentes, com Lisboa, Setúbal, Faro e Porto a concentrarem, em conjunto, mais de 70% desse total.
